COUNTY OF NEWBERRY SOUTH 1785 CAROLINA Public Meeting Notice Newberry County plans to submit a grant application to the Recreational Trails Program through the South Carolina Department of Parks and Recreation, deadline January 23, 2026. The proposed project at Lynch's Woods Park will consist of construction of an ADA-compliant wooden pedestrian bridge that will connect existing trails to the historic Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp site - a bridge to the past. The project will include covered entrance structures on both ends of the bridge, complete with benches. A historical monument will also be installed to help visitors better understand the historical significance of the site. These enhancements are intended to connect the natural and historical features of the trail system and make it more inclusive and accessible. By spanning Rocky Branch Creek, the structure will safely connect visitors with the former CCC camp, which is an important site with cultural and educational significance. Newberry County will hold a public meeting to receive comments on the proposed project on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 5:30 PM, in County Council Chambers at the Newberry County Annex, 1309 College St., Newberry, SC. Questions concerning this public meeting should be directed to Jessie Long with Newberry County Parks and Recreation at P: 803-924-8328 or E: recreation@ newberrycounty.gov.
